Reinforced concrete structures, such as car parks, are constantly under attack as water, chlorides, de-icing salts and freeze-thaw cycles act on them. Extreme weather cycles, the impact of foot traffic and vibration place these structures under further stress. As steel reinforcing bars corrode, expansive forces can lead to cracking and further deterioration.

The costly disruption caused by the resulting intrusive repair work impacts on both the use of the facility as well have a having an unavoidable negative commercial impact.

As moisture is a key component in the corrosion process and subsequent concrete deterioration, incorporating sufficient structural waterproofing at the design stage is by far the most cost-effective option, often lasting for
the life of the structure itself.
