Having recently been approached by one of the UK's largest Building Consultancy practices, USL are currently carrying out concrete repair and rectification works to 2 No. car park structures at The University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff. Following the preparation of a schedule of dilapidations, USL were subsequently appointed as Principal Contractor to deliver a multi-disciplined project over a 12 week period.
The works include cold applied liquid roofing to 4 No. stairtowers, brickwork re-pointing via abseil access, deep cleaning, coping stone repairs and re-pointing, joint replacements as well as general decoration. The project which commenced in February also sees USL StructureCare providing scaffold to the stairtowers to gain access to the standing seam metal roofs, whilst all external elevations are being thoroughly cleaned using abseil techniques.
Anthony Wallis, Special Projects Manager for USL commented "the nature and scope of works is relatively straight forward, but the combination of the car parks being used 24/7 and the fact that they are located immediately adjacent to the busy hospital means close coordination of the works (for noise and disruption reasons) is very important. This is our third project in the last 6 months for the same client, and we are delighted they chose USL once again".
